The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) is keeping its sugar production forecast for crop year 2012-2013 at 2.356 million metric tons (MT).

SRA administrator Ma. Regina Bautista-Martin said the sugar industry remains resilient despite the onslaught of Typhoon Pablo and tropical storm Quinta that hit Mindanao and Visayas sugar-producing areas.

Details on the Sugarcane Industry Roadmap for 2011 – 2016

The Sugar Regulatory Administration is conducting a thorough assessment of the damage of typhoon “Pablo” on sugarcane crops, which may cause a drop in this year’s production. Also, the sugar master plan is in place and is already being enforced to prepare the sugar industry for 2015, when the tariff on imported sugar entering the country drops to five percent.

In preparation for the coming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Community in 2015, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia have formed the ASEAN Sugar Alliance (ASA).

Sugar4.net will be launching a subscription service starting Crop Year 2019-2020
